Demonstrating Engineering Expertise, Product Innovation, and Impact on a Global Scale

Electrum has demonstrated its global engineering capabilities through a landmark collaboration with ATML to serve a major telecom operator in Argentina. This project involved the design, development, and delivery of a specialized single-mode fiber optic cable, purpose-built to withstand Argentina’s challenging environmental conditions, including high humidity, extreme thermal variations, and exposure to UV and mechanical stress in rural and semi-urban deployments.

The fiber cable, delivered in 72F and 48F configurations, was engineered with a multi-layered construction designed to optimize both mechanical resilience and signal integrity. The core featured ITU-T G.652D compliant fibers, encased in gel-free loose tubes filled with water-blocking yarns to enhance moisture resistance. The central strength member was reinforced with FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) to provide superior tensile strength, while the outer jacket was constructed from UV-stabilized, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with anti-rodent additives to protect against environmental degradation and biological threats.

Additionally, the cable’s structural configuration enabled excellent mid-span flexibility and minimal signal attenuation over long distances, making it ideal for aerial installations across extended rural spans and technically demanding terrain.

More than 600 kilometers of this custom-engineered cable were successfully manufactured and suppliedillustrating Electrum’s ability to meet strict international specifications and deliver mission-critical, high-performance fiber infrastructure at scale.
